Application of Distributed Spatial Database in Massive Satellite Images Management

Abstract: Aiming at the problem that the existing satellite image storage solutions have poor performance in massive image data, this paper gives the analysis of characteristics of the existing satellite image data storage solutions, and puts forward an improved solution based on distributed spatial database to manage the image metadata. This solution utilized file system to store unstructured entity data of satellite image, in the same time, the spatial information and image metadata is stored in distributed spatial database. As a result, it achieves the high performance storage of unstructured image data. ZY-3 satellite image data management experiment has been carried out, and it shows that this solution is of a significant improvement in the query performance of massive satellite image data, and it is suitable for the storage of massive satellite image data.
