Abstract: With the openness of the government information, such as smart city, geo-information common services, and geographical conditions data, the city electronic map, which is considered to be the basis of all kinds of government affairs, can only be illustrated by shutting down and selecting elements in multi-scale display. This leads to the jumping loss and detail fragmentation phenomenon for the elements in the scaleless display. Therefore,it cannot meet the requirements of cartographic representation and satisfy the user's visual experience. This paper presents an automatic generalization method, which constructed a technology system featured unified source, consistent derivation, scaleless representations. This system realizes the linkage renewal and multi-scale display of urban multi-scale electronic map. To some extent,it will play an important role in maximizing the geographical information integration and service capabilities of surveying and mapping.
