Abstract:

Measurements in topographic of channel slope are the foundation of bank erosion and stability study. We deployed integrated SeaBat-7125 multi-beam sonar,Riegl VZ-4000 terrestrial laser scanner,Trimble DGPS and RTK to build a multimodal sensor system to directly measure morphological characteristics of channel slope in Tongling and Ma'anshan reaches of the Yangtze River. We integrated the point cloud data of submerged portions of the slope with the non-submerged portions to achieve visualization of 3D morphology of channel slope. The results show that the measurements and integration methods of point cloud data are effective to acquire integrated topographic of channel slope, thus we enable to build a 3D vector terrain model to achieve quantitatively calculated of geomorphic features of channel slope like arc collapsing and so on.It has a long-term guidance for the monitor and stability evaluation of channel slope in these areas.
