Review of application areas for side scan sonar image

Abstract

Abstract: Side scan sonar (SSS) image is widely used in ocean engineering, marine science, underwater object detection and recognition and other fields. The continuous improvement of the cost-effective of SSS equipment has brought new opportunities to the deeper application of SSS image. This paper summarizes the application areas of SSS image, and provides practical guidance for the further application of this traditional equipment. At the same time, the research direction of the subsequent precise processing of the SSS image is given.
