Abstract: Precipitable water vapor (PWV) is used to characterize the water vapor content in the atmosphere. This paper utilizes GPS observation data of Fujian continuously operating reference station (FJCORS) to obtain the precipitable water vapor (GPS/PWV). Comparing with the PWV obtained from high-precision sounding observation data, it shows that the correlation coefficient is 0.98, which means GPS/PWV has good consistency with sounding results. Meanwhile, the average deviation is less than 1.10 mm, indicating that GPS/PWV data has high precision. On the basis of the above, the variation characteristics of GPS/PWV of the No. 8 typhoon Marlia before and after landing in Fujian in 2018 and the relationship with actual precipitation are analyzed. The results show that GPS/PWV data can well reflect the spatiotemporal dynamic transmission process of water vapor during typhoon and has a good correspondence with precipitation.
