Application of unmanned aerial vehicle airborne LiDAR in large scale topographic mapping of coastal beach

Abstract: Taking the annual monitoring of Baimaosha regulation building project of 12.5 m deep-water channel project from Nanjing in the Yangtze River as an example, with UAV aerial photography and airborne LiDAR technology, this paper introduces the key technologies of acquiring large scale and high precision geographic information data of beach. This case study shows that the use of UAV equipped with digital cameras and LiDAR for data acquisition has obvious advantages in the acquisition of high-resolution images and ground elevation data in small areas and difficult areas. It provides a new way for engineering mapping in the development of coastal beach. Moreever, it is an efficient and fast technical means.
