Abstract: Aiming at the scale effect of monitoring carbon stock changes based on land cover data, this paper took the example of Hangzhou Chengxi Sci-tech Innovation Corridor to study the applicability of different scales of land cover data in the area with fragmented surface and frequent changes. The coarse and fine classification land cover data obtained from high-resolution images, and the commonly used medium-and low-resolution land cover data, were used to calculate the carbon stock changes in the study area in the past 13 years by using a bookkeeping model. It was found that the value of carbon stock change calculated based on the medium-low resolution land cover decreased by 3021.24tC, compared with that based on the high-resolution coarse classification land cover. And the value of carbon stock change calculated based on the high-resolution coarse classification land cover decreased by 685.43tC, compared with that based on the high-resolution fine classification land cover. The results showed that, in the area of fragmented surface with frequent changes, the carbon stock change values calculated based on different scales of land cover were significantly different, and the high-resolution fine classification land cover data were more applicable.
