Abstract: As a common used base map,the government digital map is a widely recognized form of using geographic information. In the paper,the methods of producing government digital map are studied. Based on the principles of using fundamental surveying data and giving priority to visualization throughout the whole process,the paper designs product forms which have two sets of coordinates and three represented forms.Also the paper proposes the whole production process,which contains confidential treatment,data processing,and special drawing,etc.Focusing on the map loading control strategy,the paper carefully analyzes the spatial scale,the performance level,the comprehensive choice and their impact on the digital map.Taking Beijing as an example,the government digital map has been produced and then widely used among the government sectors.
