Abstract: The rapid economic development and urbanization in the Pearl River delta region drive the development of surrounding cities. This paper uses the land survey data which were obtained by high resolution remote sensing images from 2011 to 2017 to analyze urbanization of Guangning county, the nearest mountain county to the Pearl River delta. It reflects the urban expansion degree through calculating several indicators and finds out the source of the new urban land in each year.Meanwhile, the landscape distribution of the various types in the county district of Guangning county is analyzed by calculation of the landscape index. Finally,we explore the changing demand of land during the period of urbanization and seek out the optimizations of urbanized land in mountain county.
