Abstract: The existing problems of the construction of basic geographic information resources in China are analyzed, and the conception of sharing and deepening the application of basic geographic information resources by constructing geographic entity database is proposed. The present situation of research and construction of the database of geography entities at home and abroad are also analyzed. On the basis of the above, the conception of task division and production organization pattern of China's basic surveying and mapping on country, provinces, cities and counties based on the data collection of geographical entities is proposed, which is based on the principle of giving priority to the state affairs.
