Abstract: As the core factor of the discipline, the cultivating of talents reveals the results of construction. This paper analyzes the employment data of surveying and mapping major in recent 7 years, the result shows that employment rates are all above 97%. Study for the graduate degree in & abroad, work in the private enterprise of this subject and work in state enterprise account for the lion's share of quantity, with each for about a third. The employment areas are mainly in the eastern coastal areas, the northern coastal areas and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The development of surveying and mapping face to challenge with opportunity, such as the national strategy, the energy revolution, the reform of higher education, the development of science and technology, and the international cooperation. Structure and direction of cultivating 4-level talents are presented. It suggested that building the world benchmark of mining characteristics in construction of surveying and mapping specialty.
