Abstract: The 3D laser scanning technology, which has the characteristics that the traditional measurement methods do not have, can extract topographic features timely, actively and efficiently. The contour lines and the 3D model can be used to reflect the topographic features of the study area. The data of the laser point cloud are acquired by Leica C10 scanner. Cyclone and Geomagic Studio are used to preprocess the data. Cyclone,CASS and Surfer are used to extract the topographic features. Conventional measurement methods are compared and analyzed. The results show that the three kinds of software can generate contour lines and the ideal three-dimensional model, and all have their own characteristics. As to the production of precision and efficiency, the contour line drawn from the point cloud data is obviously superior to the conventional methods.
