Exploration and practice on the cultivation of undergraduate talents in Geographic Information Science in the era of “big knowledge”

Abstract: The transformation from "big data" to "big knowledge" provides new opportunity and challenge for geographic information science. Correspondingly, we need to explore a new mode of training undergraduate talents in geographic information science. In this paper, we first analyze the new characteristics of geographic information science education in the era of "big knowledge". Then, we introduce the practice of undergraduate talent training in geographic information science from the aspects of top-level design of talent training, construction of curriculum system, construction of teaching content, and reform of teaching philosophy. This paper may provide some reference for promoting the cultivation of undergraduate talents in geographic information science.
