Abstract: UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) based aerial photogrammetry is one of the major methods for emergency surveying and mapping. In recent years, a series of UAVs with high payload and long endurance have been applied in civil area. But, former researches on UAV based aerial photogrammetry systems mainly focused on micro/mini UAVs and manned aircraft. These researches are unable to fit with the characters of UAVs with strong capabilities because of the lack of special design methods. In order to solve this problem, this paper analyzes the differences between various types of fixed-wing UAVs, and takes the integration of UAV platforms, mission sensors and remote sensing processing software as the key point of the design of this type of UAV system. Then, an integration method for multiple sensors based on special aerial photography controller is proposed, and the integration process of different software including plan of aerial photography, real-time processing of video and high precision processing of images is introduced. Based on the above methods, an aerial photography system for emergency surveying and mapping based on CH-4 is realized and experimented in Guangyuan Sichuan. The experiment results show that this system can obtain video, optical image and SAR dataset by a single flight, and the quality of datasets can meet the requirements of large-scale surveying and mapping.
